White moves first. Tap a piece to see where it can go, then tap a square to move. Pieces you can move are ringed.
Pawns move one square forward (two from their start row) and capture diagonally. A pawn that reaches the far row promotes — pick the piece from the strip under the board.
Castling: move the king two squares towards a rook and the rook jumps over it. Not allowed once either piece has moved, while in check, or across an attacked square.
En passant: a pawn that just advanced two squares can be captured as if it had moved one, on the very next move only.
Checkmate wins. Stalemate, the same position three times, fifty moves without a capture or pawn move, or too little material to mate are all draws.
Undo takes back your last turn. Games save automatically — leave and pick up later.
Online: choose Online friend, create a game and share the code or link. Your friend opens it and plays from their own device.
